Dr. Ulman has had a passion for the seas and marine conservation since she was a teenager. She turned her passion into a profession first as a globe-travelling PADI scuba instructor where she certified over 1000 divers and then, as a marine conservation teacher.   

Dr. Ulman studied marine biology, earning her MSc in Fisheries Science in Canada. She continued to study alien species in the Mediterranean, earning a joint doctorate from Sorbonne and Pavia Universities. In 2018 she relocated to Turkey and has been studying pufferfish in the Mediterranean ever since.

In 2023 Dr Ulman founded Le Puffer, an innovative company that produces fish leather from Pufferfish skin, thereby turning an ecological burden into an economic benefit.
